Professor Stephan Zierz, an innovator in the field of neurology and neuromuscular medicine, sadly passed away on April 22 at the age of 69.

The best starting point to characterize Austria is with history. Our small country is deeply rooted in the history of the Habsburg Empire, but at the same time Austria has been a spearhead in modernism of the 20th century, and it is one of the most developed social welfare states in today’s world.

Dear Colleagues and Friends, Education is one of the major priorities for the EAN, and the Society offers several opportunities. Over the last years, the educational program at the EAN annual Congresses has been increasingly articulated in different formats (traditional Teaching Courses, Hands-on-Courses, Interactive Sessions including the EAN Brain Challenge, Case-based Workshops, Controversies, and Career Development Sessions) in order to better fit with the multifaceted aspects of Clinical Neurology.

The European Academy of Neurology held the traditional educational 4-day course in May – the EAN Spring School.
