It has been a great honor for me to be awarded with the EAN scientific fellowship 2015. Thanks to the EAN, I had the chance to spend one year at the Sobell Department of Motor Neuroscience and Movement Disorders of the University College of London and to join the Movement Disorders Clinic under the supervision of Professor Kailash Bhatia.
EAN Congress 2025 relocated to HELSINKI due to UN summit (dates remain 21-24 June)

Due to unforeseen developments, the 11th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology has been relocated and will now be held in Helsinki on June 21-24, 2025.

EAN Scientific Panels – a great opportunity to interact & broaden cooperation in Europe
March 1, 2016In the recent months, the EAN have reorganized its Scientific Panels. This was a rather complex and time consuming procedure, starting with the European National Neurological Societies nominating its representatives for each panel, an approval of EAN individual members who asked to serve in the different Panels, through the call for applications for the Management Group (MG) chairmanship and membership, and ending with the elections, involving more than 1000 EAN Panel members. -

On February 29th, we celebrated the ninth International Rare Disease Day, sponsored and coordinated by EURORDIS. Activities, taking place all around the World, ranging from an essay contest to ice-skating, had one main purpose and that is “to raise awareness amongst the general public and decision-makers about rare diseases and their impact on patients' lives”.

The scientific panels of the European Academy of Neurology: reorganisation of the think tank
February 1, 2016The purpose of EAN is to promote excellence in Neurology in Europe and among other topics the bylaws have detailed this ‘to increase the … standards of neurological services, to support neurological research and to be an organ speaking for neurology as the major medical specialty caring for patients with neurological disorders’. A very important structure of the Society to continuously fulfill this mission are the 31 scientific panels of EAN. These panels did exist already within the former Societies EFNS and ENS but they were organized differently. As they have received some reformation I would like to briefly outline their current function and why this reorganization was necessary. -
