Safety and efficacy of edaravone in well defined patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial. Lancet Neurol 2017;16:505-512. There is evidence that oxidative stress induced by free radicals is a key factor of progression in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). -

Amsterdam 2017: 18 years of EAN Spring School – Alumni “Happy Hour”
August 1, 2017During the 3rd Congress of the EAN, an outstanding opportunity of meeting colleagues who took part in previous Spring School meetings was organized. -
It was a pleasure for me to represent the EAN at the 1st EBM meeting in held in Paris (La Salpétrière Hospital) on May 23, 2017. The objective of the EBM project is to preserve and to promote collections of archives related to the History of the various disciplines concerned by brain science (not only neurology, but mostly).

August 1, 2017Residents and research fellows discover the VUmc This year’s annual hospital visit on Sunday 25th of June 2017 brought 80 residents and research fellows from all over the world to the impressive VU University Medical Center Amsterdam (VUmc) located in the southwestern part of Amsterdam, close to the campus of VU University. The RRFS hospital visit was organised in collaboration with the Dutch Junior Neurology Association. -

The 18th course of the Spring School attracted attention of 187 colleagues from 36 countries. Due to the capacity reasons we were forced to refuse one third of the applicants. Traditionally the highest interest was from Russia – 29, Uzbekistan - 21 and Romania - 19. As usually we had again delegates from mediterranian Africa. this year, we had 90 female participants and 31 male participants.

August 1, 2017The First Congress of Georgian Union of Neurologists was held in Tbilisi, Georgia, on 16th-17th June 2017.
