PERIPHERAL NERVOUS SYSTEM ELECTROPHYSIOLOGY
Objectives of the course
- Learn how to evaluate the patient with suspected peripheral nervous system disease
- Anatomy and physiology of the peripheral nervous system
- Disordersof the peripheral nervous system (e.g., muscular dystrophy, inflammation of muscle or nerve, entrapment of nerves, ALS, myasthenia gravis, neuropathies)
- Learn the physical principles of biomedical instrumentation
- Acquire the skills to conduct nerve conduction studies and electromyography: Appropriate use of equipment and study protocols; Correct application of recording electrodes and nerve stimulation electrodes; Recognize waveforms associated with clinical findings
