The EFNS Scientist Panels and ENS Subcommittees aim at coordinating different facets of clinical research and good neurological practice at European level. They will play a very important role in the European Academy of Neurology – EAN. We invited the chairpersons of the EFNS Scientist Panels and ENS Subcommittees for their view on the future role of these panels/subcommittees within the EAN.

Neuropenews: Briefly outline the future role you see for your scientist panel/sub-committee within the European Academy of Neurology.
Albert Ludolph: The future goals of the EFNS Scientist Panel ALS and non-dementing degenerative disorders include the following: To improve the interaction between the European ALS Group (ENCALS) and the EAN. The group has the task to improve and standardise knowledge on ALS and related disorders, also to improve access to healthcare systems for all ALS patients in Europe. It is another task of the group to distribute knowledge on ALS and related disorders all over Europe, for scientists and patients alike.

Albert Ludolph: Neuropenews could be a public forum for the interaction of ALS patients, scientists and politians. You can discuss scientific progress and healthcare issues in the field of ALS and non-dementing degenerative disorders.
