This month a tweet provided me with a very interesting article (and discussion) from Ed Yong, an award-winning British science writer, on the reliability of results in neuroscience papers. He took his inspiration from a paper published in April this year in Nature Neuroscience by a team of scientists led by Marcus Munafo from the University of Bristol who analysed a broad range of neuroscience studies and found them plagued by low statistical power.
Neuroscience produces a great amount of new, interesting, and publishable results which are given ample visibility in the media and have good access to grants (e.g. Human Brain Project and Brain Initiative). Could Neuroscience be affected by Narcissim?
