The EAN was asked by the European Brain Council (EBC) earlier this month to provide international news organisation Euronews with a comment on a story about the possible role of creatine in the prevention of Alzheimer’s disease, an issue which has recently been the subject of much internet speculation.
Dr Kristian Steen Frederiksen, a member and former co-chair of the EAN Panel on Dementia & Cognitive Disorders, spoke to Euronews on behalf of the EAN, noting that creatine “does play a role in energy in the brain and we know that the metabolism in the brain is affected with Alzheimer’s disease, but there is really no evidence to suggest that we can reverse this change in the metabolism in the brain by creatine”.
The clip was published on Euronews’s Portuguese language Instagram (in Portuguese).
