WFN Elections
The World Federation of Neurology(WFN) recently announced that candidates have been selected to be put forward for this year’s elections for the positions of President, First Vice President, and one Elected Trustee. The candidates are as follows:
President:
- Prof. Steven Lewis, USA
- Prof. Dame Pamela Shaw, UK
First Vice President:
- Prof. Riadh Gouider, Tunisia
- Prof. Tissa Wijeratne, Australia
Elected Trustee:
- Dr Chandrashekhar Meshram, India
- Prof. Mayela Rodriguez-Violante, Mexico
- Dr Ghazaleh Tabatabai, Germany
The WFN notes that additional nominations will be possible up to 30 days before the start of electronic voting. Any individual from a member society, supported by at least five member societies, may apply for a position.
Voting will take place in September 2025 by online ballots, and the results will be announced at the Annual General Meeting of the Council of Delegates (COD) in Seoul.
World Brain Day 2025
World Brain Day 2025 will take place on 22 July, and the WFN has announced the theme of ‘Brain Health for all Ages’ emphasising the importance of maintaining brain health throughout one’s life.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about neurological disorders and promote strategies for prevention and care across all age groups. The WFN will collaborate with global regions and partner with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to advance the topic of brain health.
