The EAN is dedicated to strengthening its connections with members of our National Neurological Societies. In this regard, we would like to emphasise three opportunities for deeper collaboration and support in engaging with members by inviting EAN and international speakers to address national audiences. The EAN’s regional teaching events are designed to provide high-quality training to neurology residents and professionals in related specialties across European countries. These events offer participants the chance to attend top-tier courses at no cost, including minimal or no travel expenses.
EAN Regional Teaching Session (RTS)
By means of the Regional Teaching Session, we would like to support those European countries that are unable to host the annual EAN congress, or the additional Regional Teaching Day by bringing EAN and international speakers to a national audience for one session. This new initiative offers the opportunity to organise EAN sessions featuring three speakers who will travel to the National Neurological Society meetings and deliver a 180-minute plenary session at the national congress. Interactive elements should ideally be incorporated into the presentations. One of the speakers will also provide information on the benefits of EAN membership and its educational activities. The EAN provides financial support of up to €4,000 for this initiative.

EAN Regional Teaching Day (RTD)
Launched in 2017 and originally called EAN-Day, this initiative has since resulted in 12 highly successful events, including virtual ones during the COVID-19 pandemic. Reports are available here. The EAN RTD is designed to deliver outstanding education and special recognition from the EAN to our National Neurological Societies (and Corresponding Societies). This event must be scheduled either immediately before or after a National Neurological Society meeting and is a purely academic educational initiative, with financial support from the EAN of up to €7,500.

EAN Regional Teaching Courses (RTC)
The EAN Regional Teaching Course, established in 2000, is another ongoing initiative. The RTC is similar to the Regional Teaching Day but is held as an independent event lasting three consecutive days. A key requirement is that the country of the local organiser or neurological society applying must not host an EAN congress within five years before or after the RTC. Reports of previous Regional Teaching Courses are available here. This is a strictly academic educational initiative, with financial support from the EAN of up to €30,000.

All three events are easy to organise and the EAN Head Office provides full support throughout the process, offering forms, templates, and necessary guidance.
The financial support for RTS, RTD, and RTC events covers travel and accommodation for EAN speakers, printing materials, rental of the lecture hall, AV and technical equipment, and catering during the meeting. Participants are responsible for their own travel and accommodation costs, and there are no registration fees.
Promotion for the RTS, RTD, and RTC events, as well as the National Meeting, will be featured on the EAN website and in eanNews.
If you are interested in organising an RTS or RTD at your National Neurological Society meeting or hosting an independent EAN Regional Teaching Course in your country, please submit the relevant application form to grants@ean.org.
