We are excited to announce that the EAN is involved in the session Building Brain Health in Europe at the upcoming European Association of Neurosurgical Societies (EANS) Congress on 13-17 October in Sofia, Bulgaria.
The EAN and EANS have been partner societies since 2020, when a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by both parties. In the upcoming joint session Prof. Thomas Berger, former Chair of the EAN Scientific Committee, will hold two lectures presenting the EAN Brain Health Mission as well as the role of EAN guidelines. The session will be chaired by the EANS President, Prof. Torstein Meling, with further renowned experts on the programme, including the European Brain Council President, Prof. Suzanne Dickson.
Launched in 2023 by the EAN with 26 partner organisations, the Brain Health Mission aims to enhance public understanding of brain health across all life stages. The mission promotes public health strategies for long-term brain health impact, supports the development of healthcare workforces, and emphasises the importance of prevention, early detection, and intervention. Rooted in evidence-based research, the Brain Health Mission advocates for a holistic approach. As Prof. Berger states, “a healthy brain is not only the absence of a neurological disorder; it also means prevention of neurological disorders and continuous development of the healthy brain capacity over the life cycle of an individual”.
