We are thrilled to announce the graduation of the first batch of CoCoCare students under the auspices of the EAN. Nineteen graduates received their certificates during the graduation ceremony at the EAN Congress 2024 in Helsinki, Finland.
CoCoCare aims to teach a select group of neurology residents and early career neurologists how to develop and implement high quality, evidence-based guidelines and, as a result, eventually involve skilled graduates in EAN guideline development.
The graduates undertook a one-year course which began with an e-learning phase, followed by the kick-off workshop at the EAN Congress 2023. Following that, the students were invited to complete training on the job sections backed up by regular webinars. These activities culminated in the development of a research question which the students tackled in groups, finally presenting their results at the Scientific Theatre in Helsinki one day prior to their graduation.
Graduates of the programme are added to a pool of interested candidates who are approached on a regular basis to get engaged in various guideline activities. The idea is to help graduates gain practical experience and confidence in guideline development. Activities include:
- Participating in guideline taskforces
- Reviewing and evaluating guidelines
- Guideline implementation – evaluating the implementation of guidelines
- Developing guidance documents for guidelines
The success of CoCoCare 2023 has spurred us on to continue the programme and the next batch of students have already completed their e-learning and met at the kick-off workshop in Helsinki.
The EAN Guidelines Production Group wishes the recent and future graduates all the very best!
