The 10th Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) provided a vibrant and dynamic platform for members of the Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) to engage, learn, and network in Helsinki. The RRFS organised activities to enhance professional development and foster collaboration among young neurologists and researchers.
The congress kicked off with an insightful RRFS Representatives Meeting on the first day of the congress. This meeting allowed the core members of the RRFS to meet in person, exchange news, and share ideas.
On Sunday, we organised a hospital visit with the great help of our Finnish RRFS representative, Henri Hokkanen. This visit provided a unique opportunity for RRFS members to explore the state-of-the-art medical facilities in Helsinki. Participants were welcomed to the Helsinki Hospital, renowned for its advanced neurological care and research. The visit included a lecture on neurology in Finland, a tour of various departments, and demonstrations of the latest medical technologies.
After the hospital visit, we hosted the RRFS Networking Event in the evening, which attracted more than 200 RRFS members. This lively gathering was held at a scenic location overlooking the city’s picturesque harbour. It provided a relaxed and informal atmosphere for young professionals to connect with peers, mentors, and experts in the field. The event included ice-breaking activities, group discussions, and opportunities to share research interests and career aspirations. Attendees appreciated the chance to make meaningful connections and exchange ideas with fellow neurologists from diverse backgrounds. The networking event underscored the RRFS’s commitment to fostering a supportive and collaborative community.
The RRFS General Assembly was a pivotal moment of the congress, marked by active participation and important decisions. Members gathered to discuss the past year’s accomplishments, current initiatives, and future goals. A major highlight was the election of a new Treasurer, Katarzyna Krzywicka, whose dedication and vision promise to move the RRFS forward.
The EAN Congress 2024 in Helsinki was a resounding success for the RRFS, demonstrating the vibrant activities and strong sense of community. We extend a warm thank you to our RRFS members and look forward to seeing you all soon in Seville in 2025.
