In order to support and develop expertise in bridging the gap between neuroscience and clinical knowledge, the EAN Board decided in 2019 to create a Scientific Panel on Neuroscience/Translational Neurology. Areas of scientific interest to this panel are, for example, disease modelling in neurology, novel tools and devices for diagnosis and treatment, biomarkers, and translational aspects of disease mechanisms with clinical impact.
Due to the broad scope of the panel and the fact that each subspecialty also engages with translational aspects, it was decided by the EAN Board that this Scientific Panel would be transformed into a Coordinating Panel by December 2022. It is felt that the panel’s potential to contribute to the EAN’s vision and mission would be greater by taking this step.
The activities of the Panel are supervised by the Management Group of the former Scientific Panel on Neuroscience/Translational Neurology, and led by the two co-chairs, Marina Kleopatra Boziki and Radu Tanasescu, until the next Management Group elections for Coordinating Panels.
Like all Coordinating Panels, it consists of a core group of up to two representatives from each Scientific Panel, meaning each subspecialty will be represented within. In November 2022 the nominations from the various EAN Scientific Panels were collected for this. In addition, the new Coordinating Panel welcomes, as of December 2022, all Individual Members who are interested in this topic. Further details on the application process and the respective online form can be found on the EAN Website.
