Successful collaboration between the EAN and the International Neuro-urology Society (INUS) at the 7th annual International Neuro-urology Meeting in Zurich
The 7th International Neuro-urology Meeting was held in January 2019 and for the first time, a dedicated Neurosciences workshop was held in collaboration with the EAN. The half-day workshop on Thursday 24 January 2019 began with imaging research and our understanding of the neural control of the lower urinary tract, and included topics such as a review of the neural networks responsible for lower urinary tract control, potential brain imaging biomarkers to evaluate therapeutic interventions for LUT dysfunction and Neuroimaging of functional recovery in SCI. The second half of the workshop covered the clinical interface between autonomic disorders, Uroneurology and Pelvic neurophysiology. Representing the EAN, Alessandra Fanciulli presented an overview of Primary disorders of the autonomic system and David Vodusek presented on Pelvic neurophysiology testing in the evaluation of patients with unexplained urogenital complaints.
The workshop was well attended and received excellent feedback. A neurosciences workshop is being planned once again at the next INUS Annual Congress scheduled for January 23 to January 25, 2020 in Istanbul. We invite members of the EAN to attend the congress and participate in the neurosciences workshop to enrich your knowledge about neurogenic urogenital dysfunction and pelvic neurology.
