In 2016, the European Academy of Neurology – Resident and Research Fellow Section (EAN-RRFS) started a new initiative called “EAN-RRFS national representatives” to establish a network of junior national representatives within EAN-RRFS. The fundamental motivation was to strengthen relationships among European countries, in order to facilitate the spread of information, promote the exchange of experiences and professional growth.
Following the first ever RRFS joint-workshop with the Swiss Association of Young Neurologists (SAYN) in Zurich, Switzerland in March 2018, the second meeting will be held one year later in Rome, Italy in March 2019. This event will further allow junior national representatives to come together and to discuss topics relevant to residents and research fellows across Europe.
So far, two of the main projects are a mentoring program led by the swiss national representative and the Swiss Association of Young Neurologists (SAYN) and a survey on the neurology residency programs led by the national representatives from Germany and the Netherlands.
Currently, there are EAN-RRFS national representatives from 35 countries across Europe as shown in table 1 and figure 1. In case your country does not have an EAN-RRFS national representative or you have a subject that you feel should be addressed by the national representatives’ network, please feel free to get in contact with us to help us liaise with your national society (rrfs@ean.org)!
