During September 8-11, 2012 the 16th Congress of EFNS took place in Stockholm, Sweden. Before the meeting 2200 abstracts had been submitted. There were 5400 delegates from 105 countries registered at the meeting. We are very happy to see this “all time high” number of participants at an EFNS congress!
The programme covered most aspects of neurology and included well-attended activities including teaching courses (more than 2000 participants), sessions with main topics, focused workshops, short communications, poster presentations, special sessions and satellite symposia. The last day of the congress, Professor Marie-Germaine Bousser talked to a full auditorium about “Lessons from CADASIL” in her “EFNS Lecture on Clinical Neurology”.
The social programme included both an ABBA music event with “Super trouper” at the opening ceremony and a reception at the Stockholm City Hall, the place of the Nobel Prize festivities.
This EFNS congress in Stockholm was the last one in the “old style”, since next year there will be a World Congress of Neurology in Vienna in September in cooperation with EFNS. In 2014 there will be a joint meeting with EFNS and ENS in Istanbul. In 2015 the first congress of the European Academy of Neurology is planned to take place in Berlin.

We would also like to thank the EFNS Head Office, Kenes International and cooperating organisations for making the 16th EFNS Congress to a successful meeting!
