The neurological societies of the Maghreb held their 10th Congress in Tunis, Tunisia from December 3 – 5, 2015.
Prof. Riadh Gouider, President of the Tunisian Society of Neurology hosted the meeting.
More than 250 neurologists and residents in neurology attended the meeting.
The societies that form the Maghreb group of neurological societies are Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Libya and Mauritania.
The congress addressed the following main themes:
- Epilepsy
- Parkinson’s Disease and abnormal movements
- Metabolic disorders
- Dementia
Several interactive Workshops dedicated to clinical case discussions were also organised.
Electronic posters were presented and a tournament for young neurologists took place.
Prof. A. Federico, Chair of the EAN Scientific Committee and Prof. D. B. Vodušek, chair of the EAN Liaison Committee were among the invited speakers. They expressed their high regard for the scientific quality of the congress and the excellent level of preparation of the attending residents.
Prof. Gouider, on behalf also of the other institutional corresponding members to EAN, expressed his great appreciation for the ongoing cooperation with EAN.
The meeting also allowed a first contact with Prof. Mouhamadou Diagana, President of the national neurological society of Mauritania.
EAN printed materials were made available to the congress attendants.
The next congress of the neurological societies of the Maghreb will take place in Algeria. The dates of this congress will be received in a near future.
