EBRAINS has announced an open call for proposals aimed at integrating models of the brain’s vascular architecture with EBRAIN’s Human Brain Atlas, with the aim of enhancing the usability of brain vasculature data for research and clinical applications, fostering collaboration between institutions and the EBRAINS consortium. The call invites submissions that bring in 3D reconstructions of the vessel tree from vascular images which can be spatially aligned to one of the reference template spaces provided by EBRAINS, to combine them with the structural and functional parcellations in EBRAINS, and link them to other findings such as structural and functional neuroimaging, cytoarchitectonics or molecular data.
The goal is to create a multidimensional reference framework for human brain organisation, improving our understanding of the brain in both healthy individuals and patients.
Eligibility and Submission Outline:
- The call is open to institutions and research consortia that have already collected or are in the process of collecting brain vasculature data at the whole-brain level. The integration focuses on existing data and does not support new data acquisition.
- Only non-EBRAINS 2.0 partners are eligible for funding, with a budget of €60,000 for one selected proposal, covering data preparation, standardisation efforts, and software development on the applicant’s side.
- Applicants are required to submit a proposal by 2 December 2024, 14:00 CET, outlining the available brain vasculature data, the proposed methodology for data integration, and a projected timeline for the integration process. The estimated integration timeline is set at 16 months, allowing for preparatory activities and ensuring a smooth integration with the existing EBRAINS infrastructure.
- Prospective applicants are encouraged to submit their proposals by 2 December, 2024, 14:00 CET, including all required documentation and project plans.
Submission must be done via the Open Calls Platform by using the proposal template. You can find all the documents you need to submit a proposal here.
