One of the goals of the EAN Guideline Production Group (GPG) is to increase the guideline development capabilities within the EAN by providing avenues for members to learn the necessary skills and knowledge. One of those avenues is the EAN Guidelines Workshop, which is organised by the GPG every year and takes place one day before the annual EAN Congress.
The workshop is a compact but comprehensive walkthrough of the guideline development process, covering the following topics:
- Construction of PICOs (Population, Intervention, Comparator, Outcome)
- Construction of evidence profiles
- Summary of findings
- Evidence to decision process
- Development of the recommendation
The format is a short lecture dedicated to each topic, followed by small group workshops, presentations and plenary discussions of the results. This year the groups were guided by GPG members Joao Costa, Katina Aleksovska, Luca Vignatelli, and Teia Kobulashvili.
Participants were highly motivated during the workshop, attentively listening to lectures, eagerly engaging in discussions and working on exercises. After this workshop, we are very optimistic that the future of EAN guidelines will be bright, and we are looking forward to holding another workshop next year!
