The EAN is happy to announce the launch of the second iteration of our very own guideline educational programme – CoCoCare (Cost-Conscious Healthcare) 2024.
Initially an EU Erasmus grant project of the Maastricht University, the EAN joined the consortium in 2019. After several successful runs it was decided that the EAN would take over the course in 2023. This year’s course is approaching completion with the current students planned to graduate at the upcoming EAN Congress 2024 in Helsinki.

CoCoCare aims to teach 20 neurology residents and early career neurologists how to develop and implement high quality, evidence-based guidelines; and as a result, eventually involve skilled graduates in EAN guideline development.
The course is structured as an integrated learning programme that combines e-learning, plenary discussions and workshops, self-study, and practical training in an innovative holistic approach. The programme will take place over one year, starting from a Kick-off Workshop at the 2024 Congress and a poster presentation and ceremony at the 2025 Congress.
Clinical practice guidelines are a crucial tool for the neurological community, the development of which is one of the EAN’s core activities. To sustainably develop high-quality guidelines, the EAN Guideline Production Group recognises the need to support the EAN Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) members who wish to boost their knowledge and skills in guideline development.
The deadline for applications has been extended to 18 March!
Please find more detailed information on the application procedure, eligibility, and the programme on our website.
