Call for expression of interest: EAN representative on the Joint Education Board (EAN & UEMS-SN/EBN)
The Joint Education Board (JEB) is a working group consisting of representatives of the EAN and the Section of Neurology/European Board of Neurology of the Union of European Medical Specialists (UEMS-SN/EBN), founded in 2018 in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding between both partners. It works toward common goals of the two organisations, such as:
A special sub-group, the Examination committee, was established to take care of the EBN exam from beginning to end and is composed of three EAN members and three UEMS-SN/EBN members.
The EAN is looking for one new representative to sit on both the JEB and the examination committee.
For officers holding the position, it is required to
– Attend at least six meetings (virtual) during the year
– Attend the EAN annual congress (plus one other meeting at the EAN Head Office)
– Take part in the exam (examiner in the oral exam [around 4-6 hours of examination] one Friday or Saturday)
To reinforce the EAN half of the JEB, we are seeking expressions of interest from neurology teachers in the European neurology community. Candidates must have an established reputation as both a clinician (neurologist and researcher) and educator. They must have a current academic appointment in a neurology-related field with a view of neurology as a broad discipline. We also expect passion and commitment to the organisation of the exam together with the JEB members from the UEMS Section of Neurology – European Board of Neurology into the future. Training and support from existing EAN experts will be provided as required; administration is handled via the secretariat of the UEMS-SN.
EAN officers must be EAN members (member of their national neurological society), ideally full individual members, should attend the EAN annual congress (free registration), and at least one other face-to-face meeting during the year. Regular e-mail contact is expected. Expenses for any meetings outside the congress are fully met, but the position is otherwise entirely honorary.
If you want to help shape the future of neurology in Europe, please send an expression of interest with a brief CV and an outline of your experience to headoffice@ean.org by 22 November, 2022.
*** We look forward to receiving your expression of interest ***
