Neurology Update by Scientific Panel Neuroimaging
In a recent study by Josephs et al., the authors searched the Alzheimer’s Disease Neuroimaging Initiative (ADNI) database for Aβ-positive individuals who remained tau-negative for at least 5 years (amyloid with low tau [ALT] group), in order to identify distinctive features between these individuals and those who develop high tau PET signal within this period. Baseline characteristics such as APOE ε4 status, brain Aβ burden, hippocampal volumes, and cognitive measures were predictive of tau PET status after 5 years.
