It is our pleasure to announce that a joint session between the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society and the European Academy of Neurology will be held during the MDS Congress 2022, on 15-18 September, in Madrid, Spain. The session is scheduled for Friday, 16 September 16, 11:00 – 13:00, andwill include talks from Stephen Reich (USA) on Pitfalls and Perils in the Diagnosis of Parkinson’s Disease in the Clinic, Maria Stamelou, (Greece) on Hypokinetic Movement Disorders: An Organized Approach to Diagnosis and Management, and Marie Vidailhet (France) on The Art and Science of Managing Dystonia in the Outpatient Arena. The session will be co-chaired by Claudia Trenkwalder (Germany), MDS Past President and Elena Moro (France), EAN President Elect.
In this Session, the faculty will discuss clinical features, investigation, and management of hypokinetic and hyperkinetic movement disorders, through case-based lectures and live interaction with the audience.
At the conclusion of this session, participants should be better able to:
- Recognise typical and atypical presentations of Parkinson’s disease
- List options for management of hypokinetic movement disorders
- Discuss how to apply medications, botulinum toxin and surgical approaches to achieve optimal outcomes in patients with dystonia
