The International Neuro-Urology Society (INUS) is a medical scientific non-profit organisation with the aim of sustainably improving and promoting medical care for patients suffering from neuro- urological disorders worldwide.
The INUS annual congress, titled ‘Innovations in Neuro-Urology: Present, Past, and Future’, will take place on 9-11 June, 2022, in Innsbruck, Austria. Preceding the congress workshops will be held on several topics, including urodynamics, translational research, sacral anterior root stimulation, neurosciences, sacral neuromodulation, and nursing care of neuro-urological patients, all of which allow interaction and hands-on experience within small groups.
During the extensive scientific sessions, an EAN lecture will be held, on ‘Urogenital and other autonomic manifestations in neuroinflammatory disorders’. Autonomic dysfunction in persons with neuroimmunological disorders can manifest with various symptoms, including cardiovascular, urogenital, and sweating disorders. These symptoms can significantly impact the quality of life of patients, with poor tolerance of upright position, difficulties in sexual function, and low endurance of physical activity, especially in warm environments. Health professionals involved in the care of persons with neuroimmunological disorders should possess basic knowledge of the function of the autonomic nervous system and be informed of how disorders of the autonomic function may manifest to provide the proper care. During the talk, autonomic dysfunction in multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorders, myasthenia gravis, and chronic inflammatory demyelinating neuropathy will be covered, with the aim of helping participants to expand their neuro-urological knowledge and enhance their clinical practice.
