EAN constantly strives to enhance links with our National Neurological Society members. Here we would like to highlight two possibilities for further cooperation and support to engage with our National Neurological Society members, by bringing EAN/international speakers to a national audience. EAN educational events aim at bringing teaching of excellence to residents in neurology and neighbouring specialties in European countries, allowing participants to attend the free-of-charge course of high-level education at no or very low (travel) costs.
EAN-Day
This initiative started in 2017 and has since led to 10 very successful events – even in a virtual format during the past year. Reports can be found here. The EAN-Day aims to bring excellent teaching and special recognition by the EAN to our National Neurological Societies (and Corresponding Societies). This day must take place directly prior to or after a National Neurological Society meeting and is a strictly academic educational initiative with financial support from the EAN of up to €7,500.

Regional Teaching Courses (RTC)
Another initiative that is already in place since 2000 is the EAN Regional Teaching Course. This course is similar to an EAN-Day but is organised as an independent meeting with a duration of three consecutive days. A requirement is that the country of the local organiser or neurological society who applies does not host an EAN congress within 5 years prior to or after the RTC. Reports of past Regional Teaching Courses can be found here. It is a strictly academic educational initiative with financial support from the EAN of up to €30,000.

Both events are easy to organise and the EAN Head Office offers support along the way by providing forms, templates and other necessary know-how.
The EAN-Day and RTC support is to pay for travel and accommodation of EAN speakers, for print material, to rent the lecture hall and all AV and technical equipment and to pay for catering during the meeting. Participants must travel and stay at their own expense. There are no registration fees.
Promotion for the EAN-Day and the National Meeting, as well as the RTC, will be also announced on the EAN website and on EANpages.
If you are interested and you wish to organise either an EAN-Day at your National Neurological Society Meeting or an independent EAN Regional Teaching Course in your country, please send the relevant application form attached to grants@ean.org.
