Prof. C. Bassetti, President of the EAN and Prof. Pierre-Hervé Luppi, President of ESRS are pleased to announce that:
EAN has joined with ESRS to promote optimal management of sleep-wake disorders in neurology in Europe. EAN and ESRS are the leading societies for neurologists for sleep-wake disorders, respectively, in Europe. This new collaboration aims to enhance education and scientific endeavors to the importance of sleep-wake care within the field of neurology in Europe. Jointly, the two organizations will be able to lobby more effectively in Brussels for the recognition of the importance and need of palliative care and for strengthening funding for research in Europe.
The two societies have agreed to collaborate on the following specific activities to deliver this goal:
1. Scientific Conferences: establish joint sessions at each other’s congresses, meetings and other relevant conferences;
2. Best Practice Guidelines: nominate representatives for each other’s guidelines modules,
3. Optimizing Education: encourage attendance of members at summer schools and teaching courses;
4. Liaison: encourage links with other relevant Societies.
The two societies’ mutual aspirations are complementary and fit well together.
EAN represents Neurologists, for whom the care of sleep-wake problems related to neurology is an area of interest linked to management of many neurological disorders. ESRS strives to develop and promote better sleep-wake care in Europe through information, education and research using multi-professional collaboration, while engaging with stakeholders at all levels.
