TRANSLATIONAL RESEARCH AND COVID-19
In this nice editorial, Prof. Johann Sellner discusses the possible role of translational neuroscience research in the current COVID-19 outbreak. In particular, the author underlines the need for a bed-to-benchside approach with the subsequent development of animal models of CoV-2 which resemble human central nervous system (CNS) infection. Such a model would not only enable the development of preventive strategies (e.g. block viral entry to the CNS) but also facilitate the study of therapies aimed at limiting brain injury and subsequent neurological sequelae.
