ebrain update
Our new ebrain session on “Identifying epilepsy through patient videos” looks at the role of video recordings made by patients and their families/friends.
The authors found that medical students had not previously known to look for features such as facial expression. It is hoped that users will more confidently identify these features to improve their assessment of patients presenting with a potential epileptic or non-epileptic event.
This will increase confidence in identifying the features of an epileptic seizure; distinguish between seizure, syncope, NEAD or dissociative seizures; appreciate seizure characteristics displayed in patient videos; identify how video footage that may also lead to misdiagnosis.
The dates for the ABN annual formative tests in Neurology, hosted on ebrain, will be 1 May to 10 June. For more information, please follow us on Twitter @ebrainnet and Facebook @ebrain.net.
