3rd Sleep Science Winter School (European Sleep Foundation)
1st – 4th March 2020, Wengen, Germany
The programme includes two topical keynote lectures on the topics of ‘Microbiota and Sleep’, and ‘The Brain Mechanisms of Awareness and Consciousness’. Seven scientific sessions provide insight into the topics of Bern Network of Epilepsy, Sleep and Consciousness (BENESCO). The Winter School begins with matters of infraslow oscillations, continues with interrelation between pain and sleep. Furthermore, it focuses on sleep breathing disorders, one of the most common sleep disorders known for its harmful effects on the cardio-cerebrovascular system. The Interfaculty Research Cooperation ‘Decoding Sleep’ (http://www.sleep.unibe.ch/) organises a scientific session covering their key research topics. The Winter School ends with a session highlighting self-consciousness from a neuropsychological perspective, and a session looking at the temporal dynamics of epilepsy seizures from patient’s chronotype to a single neuron. A teaching course for young scientists, data blitz session and a BENESCO Session are offered as well.
