PRIME project kicks off – New mental health project aims to uncover insulin-related mechanisms linking disorders of body and brain
The PRIME (Prevention and Remediation of Insulin Multimorbidity in Europe) project, which kicked off in January 2020, aims to unravel how brain disorders throughout life can be traced to alterations in insulin signalling and how this relates to the somatic diseases type 2 diabetes and obesity.
The 5-year long project, involving 17 different university and private sector groups from 9 different European countries, will receive funding through the EU’s Horizon 2020 programme. The kick-off meeting was held in Frankfurt on 14-15 January 2020. EBC is part of the consortium of the project.
