Due to its importance, the EAN task force on Rare Neurological Diseases recently became a permanent part of the EAN structure with a defined set of rules, tasks and privileges. The Scientific Committee and the Board decided it will be transformed into a Coordinating Panel.
It will consist of a core group formed by up to 2 representatives nominated by each Scientific Panel. This way each subspecialty will be spoken for. Furthermore, individual members and partner society representatives can join.
Out of the core group, a Management group (MG) will be elected (3-6 persons, including 2 co-chairs) in a secret online voting. It will oversee the Panel activities and act as a responsible partner of the Scientific Committee.
The co-chairpersons & MG members can serve a two-year term, with a possibility of re-election once for the chairpersons, and three terms for MG members. Election of the Coordinating Panel Management group will take place as soon as the Management groups of the Scientific Panels are settled, and the Scientific Panel representatives (core group of the Coordinating Panel)- have been nominated.
The Scientific Committee recently opened a call for applications – those who are intersted in representing their Scientific Panel in the new Coordinating Panel on Rare neurological disease are invited to submit a completed application form , CV and a short letter of intent to scientific@ean.org until December 16, 2019.
The received applications will be collected by the Head office and forwarded to the new Panel co-chairs who can nominate up to 2 representatives for the core group.
