Publication on the roles of the medical profession and the industry on CME
The BioMedical Alliance is a unique organisation representing 30 leading European medical societies (including EAN) that together represent more than 400,000 researchers and health professionals.
Acknowledging the importance of continuing medical education for its members, BioMedical Alliance established a task force on the future of medical education.
The article “The medical profession, industry and Continuing Medical Education: finding the balance that’s right for patients”, was produced by this group, and is now published by the American Journal of Medicine on PubMed, ahead of print. You will find the abstract by clicking here while the full article can be found on the BMA website.
Having accomplished its tasks, the Task Force was disbanded. It’s suggestion to ensure the ongoing quality of continuing medical education (CME) for its members by setting up a permanent committee, was followed and the Permanent CME Experts Committee was organized. Prof. David B. Vodušek of EAN was asked to chair it.
The Committee will explore the role the BioMed Alliance can have in enhancing the quality of CME now and in the future.
