The BioMed Alliance members have produced a cartoon to raise awareness among doctors and the public on the importance of high quality and unbiased Continuing Medical Education (CME). It explains in a clear and accessible way how medical associations contribute to providing high quality education and why this is important for patients. It also mentions the differences between industry provided education and education provided by medical associations.
Medical professionals participate in continuing education to keep their knowledge up to date and to be able to provide the best standard of care to their patients. This education is provided by independent medical associations that rely on networks of experts. It is vital that they are able to continue this important mission and that education for doctors remains impartial and based on the most relevant and reliable scientific information.
