REGISTRATION OPEN FOR NEUROLOGY ADVOCACY WORKSHOP:
Linking Global, European and National Policy Priorities.
The European Federation of Neurological Associations [EFNA] has opened registration for its advocacy workshop on: Linking Global, European and National Policy Priorities.
This workshop will take place on March 7th and 8th in Brussels at the Crowne Plaza – Le Palace Hotel.
It is aimed at national neurology advocates from the EU Member States who are interested in learning more about how their national advocacy can align with, and inform, EFNA’s policy priorities at the EU and International levels.
EFNA coordinates a Member of the European Parliament Interest Group on Brain, Mind and Pain. This will continue after the upcoming EU elections and focus on three themes during the 2019-2024 mandate:
- Fighting Stigma, Isolation and Discrimination
- Ensuring Equitable Access to Treatment, Services and Supports
- Promoting Patient Empowerment for Increased Involvement and Engagement
Before the elections EFNA is working on updating its policy documents to outline the key challenges in each of the above thematic areas and proposing policy solutions.
EAN has been one of the partners already consulted on this work, and will be an ongoing partner of EFNA in its advocacy work.
During the workshop, EFNA would like to present and discuss its new policy documents with active advocates from across the EU – in the context of addresses on the future of EU health advocacy and the place for neurology within that.
We would also like to explore ideas on how we can create better links between our work at the European/global level and advocacy activities nationally.

Places are limited and will be allocated to ensure that we have a spread of neurological diseases and EU Member States represented – on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis.
EFNA will cover travel up to 250 € for each participant (to be reimbursed after the event), as well as providing accommodation on the 6th and 7th at the hotel.
The event is open to health professionals as well as patient advocates who have an active interest in policy at the national level and would like to learn more about how this can be optimised through working via the European Institutions and partners.
Note: The event will be held in English so a working knowledge of the language is essential.
