2017 was a remarkable year for EBC, thanks to the development of an increasing number of
activities and new initiatives. In particular, the publication of EBC’s policy white paper on the
“Value of Treatment for Brain Disorders in Europe” to which EAN gave a major contribution, was key in this respect.
EBC continues to work towards its mission and vision by delivering on key projects, as well as by supporting its members, to keep raising awareness on the need for sustained support to brain research and brain health in Europe.
A topic that has become particularly crucial with the start of discussions and negotiations on the future 9th framework programme.
The report gives you an overview of activities, events and the overall work on EBC in 2017.
EAN’s contribution is highlighted in the section “EBC members and partners” reported on page 52 onwards.
I express my special “Thank You “to all the people who helped make this year a success for EAN within EBC – this includes our staff in Brussels and at Vienna, the members of the EAN Board; the members of the EAN European Affairs sub-Committee, EFNA – European Federation of Neurological Associations, our representatives at the Alliance for Biomedical Research in Europe and the Scientific Panel for Health as well as all those who worked extremely hard on a voluntary basis in the different working groups of the above stated Value of Treatment project.

I am confident that the next year will be as busy and successful as 2017.
