53rd Turkish National Neurology Congress
November 24th – 30th 2017, Antalya, Turkey
The national congress aims to offer a scientific and social platform geared for both our members and our colleagues from abroad to enjoy the highest level of scientific exchange and to be involved in social exchanges to bring the neurological society even closer together. The scientific agenda will offer a detailed outlook on specialised areas, as well as general neurological approaches.
The main theme for the congress will revolve around “EPILEPSY” and address the elimination of misinformation and stigmas deeply rooted in the society, the prevention of epilepsy and diseases associated with epilepsy, and their diagnosis and treatment. Epilepsy has affected mankind since their first ages of existence with its unpredictability and carried its mystery up to today’s society. It is more commonly observed specifically in societies with lower socioeconomic means and its incidence is on the rise owing to increased trauma, environmental factors, malnutrition, and consanguineous marriages – which still stand as a problem also in Turkey. This field should be considered as a serious public health issue and will be addressed with an integrated approach referring to its medical, social, and individual aspects with the contributions of the Scientific Working Group situated under the Turkish Neurological Society. This area is in a close association with technology with rapid advances in diagnosis and treatment options and a quest will be initiated in this area for further access to accurate diagnosis and effective medical and interventional treatment modalities and a review will be conducted on applicable regulations with the relevant units.
