This year the 90th annual Congress of the German Neurological Society (deutsche Gesellschaft der Neurologie – DGN) took place in the Congress Centre in Leipzig, Germany on September 20-23, 2017. The congress was attended by around 6,000 health professionals in Neurology.
The remarkable congress scientific program was enriched by a tailored program for medical students, neurology residents and other health professionals in training. This focused program was organized by the German young neurologists (“Junge Neurologen”), and included a daily congress guide, specific poster sessions for young neurologists as well as a “Social Club” to give the opportunity to get to know each other. Moreover, the Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) of the EAN participated to the congress as “Neurologie International”, in order to update on new developments and opportunities for residents and research fellows in Europe. Additionally, the participants could hear about the direct experience of a neurologist who had recently completed the European Board of Neurology (EBN) examination. The EBN examination traditionally takes place the day before the official beginning of the annual congress of the EAN.
This meeting was an excellent opportunity to improve links between the German young neurologists and RRFS which will certainly further grow in future.
