Prof. Günther Deuschl, President of the EAN and Prof. Leopold Saltuari, President of EFNR are pleased to announce that:
The EAN Joined the EFNR – European Federation of Neuro-Rehabilitation Societies to promote optimal management of neuro-rehabilitation. The EFNR is an international, nonpartisan, non-denominational, nonprofit organization, dedicated to research, education, intellectual and scientific exchange, advocacy and philanthropic activities in the field of neuro-rehabilitation medicine and related professional areas of expertise. The EFNR is a multidisciplinary organisation open to any professional with an interest in neuro-rehabilitation.
The organisation promotes a common platform for discussion of organisational models and rehabilitation ideologies.
This new collaboration aims at enhancing education as well as scientific endeavors, and building the critical mass of expertise to achieve excellence in neuro-rehabilitation within clinical neurology in Europe. Jointly, the two organizations will be able to lobby more effectively for the recognition of rehabilitation in neurological diseases, and for strengthening funding for research in Europe.
To achieve these goals the two societies have agreed to collaborate on the following specific activities:
- Scientific Conferences: to establish joint sessions at each other’s annual meetings and other relevant conferences;
- Best Practice Guidelines: to nominate representatives for each other’s guidelines modules;
- Optimising Education: to encourage attendance of members at summer schools and teaching courses;
- Liaison: to encourage links with other relevant Societies building a strong force at EU level.
The two societies’ mutual aspirations are complementary and fit well together.
