Dear EAN/RRSF member,
As you may know, as an EAN member, you have free access to the ebrain learning platform.
The Association of British Neurologists have prepared a self-assessment test, set at the standard required for completion of specialist training in the UK and in collaboration with EAN are making this available to all EAN members via ebrain.
What is the ABN Self-Assessment?
The ABN formative self-assessment exercise will be re-launched on 1st April 2017 as an online self-assessment containing 100 single-best-answer questions. The online self-assessment is designed to be a learning or revision aid for neurologists of all levels of seniority.
Participants will receive confidential feedback including an overall score relative to others who took the assessment as well as individual feedback on each question. This is very strictly formative and cannot be used by training bodies to assess progress because your score is only available to you.
Participants will receive a certificate of participation which can be used for e-portfolio or appraisal (*but this will not contain any score*).
When and where is this happening?
The assessment will be available to complete online only during the first three weeks of April. The assessment is hosted on ebrain. To do this assessment we do require that you submit one question yourself (so we can use the best of them for when we repeat the test in a year’s time). The assessment itself is not open until April 1st but the page is open to visit now, so you can check that you have access and submit your question.
You can start the test anytime you want between 1st and 23rd April but once you have started the test you will have three hours to complete it. Retaking it is not allowed. Immediately on completion you will be given your score. Feedback on the correct answers, average scores and which questions you got right / wrong will be available after 23rd April.
Why to try it out?
This is a great and free opportunity for everyone (trainees and consultants) to assess how good their knowledge is. Your result will be known only to you, but enable you to see where your strengths and weakness are. It is a real chance not only for British residents preparing for the SCE (Specialty Certificate Examination), but for all residents Europewide, and interested consultants to face this challenge!
Accept this challenge!
