It is a great pleasure to introduce the recipients of the Research Fellowship 2017 (in alphabetical order):
Research Training Fellowship:
Bettina Balint from Germany was selected for her project: “Systematic evaluation of the immunopathophysiology of stiff person spectrum disorders: T cells, B cell, known and new antibodies” which she will carry out at the Nuffield department of clinical neurosciences (NDCN), John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, UK under the supervision of Prof Christopher Kennard and Prof Sarosh Irani.
Stefania Nannoni from Italy was selected for her project: “Predictors of collaterals, salvageable and saved tissue on multimodal CT in acute ischemic stroke” which she will carry out at the Stroke Center, Neurology Service, CHUV Lausanne under the supervision of Prof Patrik Michel.
Arseny Sokolov from Switzerland was selected for his project: “Combined Structural and Functional Connectivity to Explore the Social Brain” which he will carry out at the Wellcome Centre for Neuroimaging, University College London, UK under the supervision of Professor Karl Friston.
Houyam Tibar from Morocco was selected for her project: “The role of monoaminergic systems in the pathophysiology and therapy of non-motor symptoms in Parkinson’s disease” which she will carry out at the University of Bordeaux, Neurodegenerative diseases Institute, Bordeaux, France under the supervision of Dr Abelhamid Benazzouz.
Research Experience Fellowship:
Maria Lieto from Italy was selected for her project: “Unravelling The Molecular Mechanisms of Pathogenesis in Spinal And Bulbar Muscular Atrophy” which she will carry out at the University of Oxford, Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics, Oxford, UK under the supervision of Dr Matthew Wood and Dr Carlo Rinaldi.
Sara Mariotto from Italy was selected for her project “Role of anti-myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein and anti-glycine antibodies as novel biomarkers in demyelinating disorders: clinical and immunological correlations” which she will carry out at the Clinical department of Neurology, University of Innsbruck, Austria under the supervision of Prof Markus Reindl
Katarzyna Smilowska from Poland was selected for her project: “Visual disorders in Parkinson’s disease” which she will carry out at the Radboud University, Nijmegen Medical Center, The Netherlands under the supervision of Prof Bastiaan Bloem and Dr Nienke de Vries.
