Many thanks to all who attended our General Assembly [GA] in Copenhagen last month and to all who visited our stand at the Annual Congress of the European Academy of Neurology exhibition. You can read a report from the event and view the photo album by following the link in the news piece below.
During the recent General Assembly, EFNA said goodbye to our Past President, Audrey Craven – who stepped down from our Board. However, we welcomed two new additions:
Jenny Baker, of the International Brain Tumour Alliance and Monika Benson of Dystonia Europe. Welcome Jenny and Monika!
You can find the list of all current EFNA Board Members here.
You’ll read below of plans to make a ‘big splash’ for World Brain Day with the Together Under the Umbrella campaign by getting as many people, organisations and events as possible active on the day. Do let us know if you have plans to participate.
As always, get in touch with any questions or suggestions!

The 2nd Congress of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) took place in Copenhagen, Denmark from May 28th-31st, 2016.
The Opening Ceremony took place on Saturday evening where attendees were welcomed by Mads Ravnborg, Local Chairperson EAN. EAN President, Günther Deuschl, introduced the newly designed EAN website with member area before passing over to Morten Kringelbach, Director of Hedonia: Trygfonden Research Group, who gave a most entertaining presentation on the ‘Pleasures of the Brain’.
On Sunday, May 29th, EFNA hosted a special session as part of the Congress programme- an open dialogue entitled: Let’s Talk About Sleep, Stress and Sex. The session explored the co-morbidities/secondary symptoms of sleep disorders, mental health and sexual dysfunction which are a feature of many neurological illnesses. The sessions was co-chaired by EFNA and the EAN – Resident and Research Fellows Section (young neurologists). Access the flyer here.
At the Congress exhibition EFNA’s focus was to promote their current awareness campaign – ‘Together Under the Umbrella’, along with the work of member organisations.
For this year’s conference we designed an exhibition stand with interactive elements. A large backdrop encouraged visitors to have their photograph taken under the umbrella with Copenhagen’s famous Little Mermaid, while ‘selfie frames’ with campaign details provided great entertainment to those in the queue!
