The Resident and Research Fellow Section (RRFS) of the EAN organised together with the “Yngre Neurologer Neurokirurger Neurofysiologer (YNNN)” a visit of the Rigshospital – University Hospital during the EAN Conference in Copenhagen on Sunday 29th of May 2016. The YNNN as well as the physicians of the Rigshospital generously organized the visit which was definitely one of the outstanding highlights of RRFS activities.
The visit started with a short introduction of Prof. Andersen, Head of the Department of Neurology. He provided general information about the hospital, the numerous different activities of the Department, and explains the diversity of neurological medical care and its geographical distribution. Afterwards, Dr. Richter Hansen (chair of the YNNN) provided an informative presentation about “how to become a neurologist in Denmark”, followed by three excellent case presentations of junior neurologists covering posterior reversible encephalopathy syndrome (PRES), phakomatoses, and rombencephalitis.
These presentations were followed by a very interesting and welcoming guided hospital visit with special focus on the Department of Neurophysiology, the Intensive Care Unit and the outpatient Memory Clinic, as well as some research facilities. Finally, everybody was invited to convene in a cozy restaurant where delicious finger food. This event gave young neurologists the chance to get together and share their individual professional, as well as personal experiences from different European countries. (#ean2016)
