Writing appropriate questions with single best answer (SBA) is a complex skill which requires scientific knowledge related to several neurological topics. However, it is really known that it is not enough. Indeed, the question/SBA writing skill requires a special experience in teaching activity. In spite of the importance of learning teaching skills, there is an evident lack of lectures about this topic in the programs of residency in Neurology, PhD and masters in Europe.
For the first time, the EAN will introduce a workshop focused on the questions/SBA writing during the upcoming meeting in Copenhagen. The event will be held on May 29, 2016 at 16.45 (Room B4M2).
The workshop has been organised by Dr Hannah Cock (Chair of the EAN Education Committee) and Prof. Jan Kuks (Chair of the EAN Quality Assurance sub-Committee).
- Dr Hannah Cock has a long experience on teaching activities at St George University (UK), where she is the neurology leader for undergraduate education. She spent an important part of her career teaching in several courses of the University and she is speaker in several national and international courses every year.
- Prof Jan Kuks is actively involved in the UEMS (Union Européenne des Médecins Spécialistes)/ European Board Examination in Neurology. Therefore, he is the principle author of questions related to the EBN exam. He has a long experience in questions/SBA writing.
The workshop will enjoy the lectures by the two speakers and will include an interactive part in which attendants will be involved in some interesting simulation of writing educational questions/SBA.
We really hope to see many EAN members during this workshop, especially RRF (residents and research fellows) section members.
