Elena Moro (EM): We are very grateful for all the work you did for the EAN news blog “Neuropenews”. It has become the most important tool of communication for our society. What is your message to us?
Gian Luigi Lenzi (GLL): It is not good to dwell in the past as none of us want to be labelled as “old”. I think that it is now the right time to turn the page and open a new chapter for Neuropenews. I like to imagine Neuropenews like a house that is going to be remodelled. I am happy to have contributed to have built the foundation of this house and to see its further development. I am very pleased to see that the leadership of the EAN news blog is now in your capable hands.
EM: Thank you very much, Gian Luigi! I have big shoes to fill! Can you share with us one of the best memories of your time as Editor in Chief of Neuropenews?
GLL: I was always very happy when people wanted to contribute to the blog, share and suggest ideas for Neuropenews. This experience has taught me a lot and has been a very important element of satisfaction in my work as Editor in Chief .
In one of his last books, Andrea Camilleri, a famous Italian writer, quotes the last wish of his character police inspector Montalbano as follows: “I wish I had 20 years less”. I have the same wish!
EM: Could you give me some advice as your legacy for my new assignment?
GLL: Do not allow anybody to stop your creativity. If you believe in your ideas and values then follow them and make them happen.
I want to thank everybody who has worked with me over these years. I have enjoyed very much to work with the Editorial Board. It has been a privilege to work with such nice friends. I wish you all the very best for this new adventure!
