The 1st Congress of the EAN includes the following networking programme and special sessions:
- Friday, June 19th, 2015: EBN Examination.
The UEMS EBN examination will be held one day prior to the congress at CityCube Berlin. The examination consists of a Multiple Choice Question test (80 MCQs), followed by an Extended Matching Question test (50 EMQs), a short oral presentation of a neurology related ethics or public health related topic, a short essay on a neurology related public health or ethics related topic and a critical appraisal of a medical topic.
- Friday, June 19th, 14.50-18:00: Scientific Satellie Symposia @ Charité.
This Scientific Satellite Symposium includes several lectures about “The retina as an interface between neurology and ophthalmology” and will be held at Kopsch-Hörsaal (Lecture Hall) in the Waldeyer Haus of the Center for Anatomy at Charité Campus Mitte. Please find the location-map here.
- Saturday, June 20th, 2015, 18.30-20.00 at Hall 2.2: Opening.
During the Opening the EAN will welcome all participants to this unique congress which will mark a milestone in European neurology. The welcoming address will be held by Wolfgang Oertel (Local Chairperson), Raad Shakir (WFN President) and Günther Deuschl (EAN President). The opening lecture by Eckhart Altenmüller about “What can musicians teach neurologists?” will be followed by a musical performance.
- Sunday, June 21st, 2015: “Challenges for women in neurology” lunch.
Join us at this lunch meeting with Valeria Caso, Dorota Religa, Ana Isabel Verdelho and Angela Vincent. The aim of this event is to help identify and overcome the challenges that women may find during their academic and hospital career development in neurology. This event is mainly directed to female neurology residents and female neurologists at the beginning of their career. You are invited to bring your lunch to this session.
- Sunday, June 21st, 2015, 15.00-17.30: Scientific Satellie Symposia @ Charité.
The “EFNA-EAN Public Awareness Day: Understanding Headache and Sleep Disorders” will be held at the Neurology Lecture Hall (“Hörsaal”) in the “Alte Nervenklinik” at Charite Campus Mitte.
- Monday, June 22nd, 2015: EAYNT Hospital Visit.
The hospital visit at Campus Benjamin, Charité, followed by a get-together is organised through the collaborative efforts of the European Association of Young Neurologist and trainees (EAYNT) and the German Jungen Neurologen. Meeting point is the congress venue at 18.00. Please register here.
- Monday, June 22nd, 2015, 20.15: Networking Event at Charlottenburg Palace.
Charlottenburg Palace is the largest palace in Berlin, and the only surviving royal residence in the city dating back to the time of the Hohenzollern family. Join this exciting event and use the opportunity to network with your friends and colleagues in an absolute unique and historic surrounding. Tickets are EUR 95 per person, EUR 60 for Middle/Low income, young neurologists and retired persons. Meal and drinks included. Tickets will be distributed on ‘first come, first serve’ basis, at the registration desk.
- Tuesday, June 23rd, 2015, 13.00-15.00: Historical Neuroscience at Charité.
Within this historical session you will visit sites of neurological importance, memorials of NS victims, old University institutes, the old Charité “Nervenklinik”, former Academy of Military Doctors (La Pépinière), former Augusta, Moabit Hospitals and Hansa-Clinic and many more historical sites of neurological importance. Meeting point is the City Cube Main Entrance (13.00).
