This call for projects was initiated by Fund Sophia, which was created to support medical scientific research on neurodegenerative diseases and is managed by the King Baudouin Foundation in Brussels, Belgium.
Priority will be given to research projects with focus on Multiple System Atrophy (MSA) or related diseases characterised by parkinsonism, but excluding idiopathic Parkinson’s disease.
Selection criteria are:
- Scientific quality of the project (including feasibility, multiplier effect and originality)
- Potential impact of the results on treatment or diagnosis
- Track record of the research team(s).
The call is open to researchers from universities in Europe. Applicants must have obtained at least a doctoral degree. The funding should enable the researcher/research team to launch a new research line or to continue an existing research project.
An amount of € 150.000 will be made available to support one project for 2 years.
If interested, please submit an online application via the website of the King Baudouin Foundation. The applications must be introduced online by September 14, 2015 at the latest. The final selection will be made by the management committee of the Fund in November 2015. All parties will be informed of the decision in December 2015 at the latest.
