Dr John Ioannidis, an epidemiologist, now at Stanford, is working on a new discipline: research about research. A war against the overinterpreting of statistical significance in studies with small sample sizes, and against publication bias. An article in the Economist reports that very soon this battle will be institutionalised, with the launch of the Meta-Research Innovation Centre at Stanford (METRICS).
