The application process for members of the Board of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) was underway and many nominations and several applications have been received. The application portal was closed at 24h CET on 14 February 2014.
The Election Organising Committee (EOC) will meet in Vienna on 16 March. The EOC will do a formal review of all applications for accuracy and completeness (e.g. nomination letters for the candidates, register of interest).
As previously agreed, up to 5 candidates per post can be presented in Istanbul for the final election of the board members during the General Assembly on 3 June 2014.
And, if there will be more than 5 candidates per post, an electronic pre-vote will be arranged.
Since for the posts Chair Scientific Committee, Chair Liaison Committee, Member at Large, more than 5 applications were received, such pre-election is currently ongoing among the Delegates to the General Assembly.
For the electronic pre-votes, a link was sent to the Delegates to the EAN General Assembly. On the online voting portal, the applications of each candidate are available. A second link leads the delegates to the voting. The delegates can vote only once, i.e. after having selected the candidates for the relevant posts, it will not be possible to go online again and vote again. There is only one vote per delegate per position possible.
The election portal will be closed on 9 March, 23.59h CET and on 10 March the final candidates will be known.
The posts in the EAN Board are:
President
Vice-President
Secretary General
Treasurer
Chairperson Scientific Committee (pre-vote)
Chairperson Liaison Committee (pre-vote)
Member at large (pre-vote)
A list of all names for each post including the list of countries and relevant subspecialties will be prepared for the elections in June.
Between March and the Istanbul Congress, information about all candidates and the applications will be provided including a list of names, gender, country & subspecialty.
The idea of providing this information is to have a balanced EAN Board with regard to gender, country as well as sub-speciality.
We invite you to follow this exciting process of electing the EAN Board here on Neuropenews.
