Editor-in-Chief: Gian Luigi Lenzi
Co-editors: José Ferro, Christian Krarup, David B. Vodušek
- Editors: The EFNS Management Committee, ENS Executive Committee and the EFNS/ENS Transition Task Force have decided that Neuropenews should become the common newsletter of EFNS/ENS and later EAN. José Ferro, Portugal and Christian Krarup, Denmark have been appointed as ENS co-editors. The first meeting of all editors took place in June 2013 during the ENS Meeting in Barcelona.
- It was decided to add a category “Road map to Istanbul/ EAN”. Here information on the latest developments related to the foundation of EAN will be published. J. Ferro (member of the transition task force) and C. Krarup are responsible of this category.
- The category “News from the EFNS” was renamed into “News from EFNS & ENS”. Here general information from both societies will be published. J. Ferro and C. Krarup are responsible for the information about ENS activities.
- A proposal for the future EAN newsletter has been sent to the Transition Task Force as well as to the Management Committee in spring 2013.
Background information: The first issue of Neuropenews was published on 1 January 2012. It is published on a monthly basis. All EFNS registered users, incl. the complete ENS database, receive a summary of the content on the first of each month.
The categories within Neuropenews are as follows:
– Top 10 Articles
– Interviews
– Grand Rounds
– Forum
– Road map to Istanbul/ EAN
– President’s/ Presidents’ Page
– News from the EFNS & ENS
– Miscellaneous
Top 10 Articles: An article on the development of this section has been published in July 2013 by Gian Luigi Lenzi: About the top 10 articles https://www.eanpages.org/?p=3911
Interviews: Currently there are two interviews published each month. One from “outside” the societies, i.e. from leaders of related societies, the other one from “inside”: all Scientist Panel and Sub-committee chairpersons have been asked to write about the duties of their SP/SC and what they plan for EAN.
Grand Rounds: Since the case reports received were mainly after having sent out invitations and it was difficult to get expert comments for the cases, it was decided to stop this initiative. From January 2014 on, case reports will only be published, if received. No invitations will be sent out anymore.
It is planned to work in close co-operation with eBrain, since eBrain will also provide case presentations. EAN members should be able to easily access these eBrain cases. Monthly summaries could be published in Neuropenews.
Forum: The society that is hosting the annual congress (Austria for 2013, Turkey for 2014, Germany for 2015, etc.) is invited to send a monthly article on neurological developments in their country. All EFNS/ENS officers are invited to send articles on their work within EFNS/ENS for the Forum.
Partner societies, such as MDS-ES, EBC, EFNA,… are invited on a regular basis to contribute to Neuropenews, but this interrelationship has to be strengthened, possibly through the MC, the Liaison Committee and the Scientific Committee.
Road map to Istanbul/EAN: Information about the foundation of EAN will be published here. The Transition Task Force is kindly asked for their help and to provide information for this category.
President’s/ Presidents’ Page: Until September 2013 Richard Hughes wrote one article per month, from October 2013 until June 2014 he will do this together with Claudio Bassetti, ENS President. From July 2014 the new EAN President should take over this task.
The acceptance of Neuropenews is very good and increasing (see statistics) and comments are received from all over the world: in particular, the issue JUNE 13 shows a 100% increase over the mean of the unique visitors for the year 2012/2013.
