ROAD MAP TO ISTANBUL
NEWS FROM EFNS & ENS
In Barcelona, on June 8th, 2013, during the 23rd ENS Meeting, that was by the way the last ENS Meeting, the newsletter editors from ENS and EFNS, Prof. José Ferro and Prof. Christian Krarup (ENS) met Prof. Gian Luigi Lenzi and Prof. David Vodušek (EFNS), to discuss how to proceed, regarding their newsletters, from now until the foundation of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Istanbul in June 2014.
In a very friendly and cooperative atmosphere it was agreed to use the present EFNS newsletter format as the backbone for the common newsletter until the future EAN officers will decide how to proceed. It will be wise to prepare the present NEUROPENEWS up until December 2014, ready for the official EAN Newsletter from January 2015 onwards.
Beginning with this issue, NEUROPENEWS’ subtitle has changed into JOINT NEWS BLOG OF EFNS & ENS. Prof. Ferro and Prof. Krarup have been added as Co-Editors, with Prof. Lenzi remaining Chief Editor.
A new CATEGORY will be added to those currently present (i.e. FORUM, TOP 10 ARTICLES, etc.) and one will be changed: the first will be called ROAD MAP TO ISTANBUL, the second NEWS FROM THE EFNS & ENS. Prof. Ferro and Prof. Krarup will take care of these two categories.
The category ROAD MAP TO ISTANBUL will be devoted to the foundation of the European Academy of Neurology (EAN) in Istanbul, June 2014, explaining the byelaws and the agreements between EFNS and ENS to achieve a smooth and fruitful melting of the two European societies. The “blog” structure of our newsletter will give our readers the possibility to ask questions, to send commentaries, to receive quick and full answers in real time.
The category NEWS FROM EFNS & ENS will in addition to common news about educational programmes, meetings, etc. publish the content of the current ENS newsletter.
Finally, it was decided that during the World Congress of Neurology in Vienna, the Local Organisers of the Istanbul Congress will be approached, in order to prepare some articles to publish in the NEUROPENEWS Forum before the Joint Congress of European Neurology, as we have made for the previous congresses.
The NEUROPENEWS Editors plan to meet again in Vienna, during the WFN Congress.
